Utah Locals only Ski and Snowboard deals!!!!

One of the many benefits of being a UT resident, is the access to numerous world class ski resorts. Here are a few programs you might want to take advantage of:

Park City Mountain Resort has a program they started last year called Start NOW "Utah residents....if you don't know how....Start NOW". My son and I participated in this program two years ago and have nothing bad to say about it. It was WONDERFUL. Here's how it works....
  • You sign up online for a 3 hour lesson. You get the lesson, lift ticket and equipment rentals for $40.
  • After completing your first lesson, you can "bounce back" 4 more times for the same deal at the same $40 price. If you don't want to do another lesson, you can get the same deal without the lessons and go out exploring on your own for the same price.
My son and I did our first lesson, that's us in the photo above. They separate the kids from the adults so the kids don't show up the adults. ;) Then we bounced back and explored on our own without the lessons. The 3rd, 4th and 5th day we did lessons again.

As I stated, they separate the adults from the kids, then they separate each group into skill level. My last lesson I was the only one in the higher skill level, so I got a 1 on 1 private lesson with my instructor (Rob Stone, Highly recommend him!)....for $40! I actually did a double blue run, I was pretty proud of myself!

Ski Utah 5th Grade Passport
This program is ONLY AVAILABLE TO CURRENT 5TH GRADE STUDENTS. Again, you must be a UT resident. For $25 your student gets a "passport" with tear out coupons valid for 3 days of skiing or snowboarding at EVERY RESORT IN UT. Each resort has 3 tear out coupons. Each time your child goes, he brings his passport and gets one coupon taken out. The passports have photo ID's in them, so they are not transferable. This is a great way to test out various resorts.

Ski Utah 6th Grade Passport
This program is identical to the 5th grade passport, except that it is ONLY AVAILABLE TO CURRENT 6TH GRADE STUDENTS. AND your student will get 1 day at each resort, where as in 5th grade they get 3 days.

Rentals:
My research for equipment has shown that snowboard rental packages are in the ballpark of $30 a day. (I did not price ski packages, but from what I glanced at, they were less then snowboard packages)

HOWEVER......My amazing friend Rachelle told me about a deal that Sports Authority does. You can rent JUNIOR SIZE new equipment for the entire season....Fall to Spring....for $109. This deal is only for the Jr. sizes. But combine that with your passport, and you have a season's worth of skiing or snowboarding for $135!

  1. I believe the 6th grade passport only receives 1 free day at each resort. Thankfully I have a 5th grader this year. :)
