Apige Photography Pics! + 50% Thrifty 101 Special!

This is my favorite photo from our Apige photo session.

I love it because each of my boys' personalities shines through. (Crazy cute one, sneaky troublemaker and cool big brother that holds them all together) No cheesy grins, no awkward poses, no head shots...just plain fun. I also like the "Washout" addition they did to it. And did you notice my new photo in the right margin? Apige took an updated pic for me to use on my blog! We were able to get every combination I wanted and more. School photos of my boys were $20 each, so for $11 less I and got the EXACT photos of my family that I wanted. Pretty thrifty huh? :)

Apige has some great unique back grounds in different colors with some fun prints on them. They have a few props (like my favorite white couch in the above photo) and allow you to bring with you whatever you like.
I really liked the photo review after the shoot. They uploaded the photos to an ipad and handed it to me to look through to make sure they got what I wanted before we wrapped everything up. That way we could re-shoot if necessary.

• a collage of a recent vacation which I put in a frame in my front room. I like that it makes it quick and easy for people to see what we did on our vacation.
• a centerpiece for a birthday party. I did a whole collage of my son with pictures through the year for his birthday.
• Spotlight page for my sons preschool class. Wallgreens has a birthday template that I used to put pictures of him and type up info on what he likes.
• Grandkid collage. I put all my mom's grandkids in a collage, framed it and gave it to her for Christmas.

1,000 photos to DVD for $29!!

Yesterday I posted a deal for 500 photos scanned to DVD for $39.

Well, this morning I woke up to find THIS DEAL from Scan My Photos via Groupon for 1,000 photos to DVD for $29!!

You can purchase 2 of them for your personal use, and 2 for gifts.  The reviews all say the turnaround and communication from the company are great.  It seems split on people saying the quality was great and others say it's not "HD" enough.  I say for photos that are "rotting" away in photo albums or shoe boxes, as long as you have them on DVD, if they are good quality I don't care if they are "HD" quality.  I just want to preserve them, not re-print them.  You can pay extra to have your vertical images scanned upright, but it costs extra.  I read a review online that said he uploaded the disk he got back from the company, flipped the ones that need to be flipped, then burned a disk from his computer with the images all the correct way.  ~That is what I'm going to do.

I've got many photo alblums with photos in them from "back in the day" before digital cameras. I've often worried about preserving them. I've priced having photos scanned onto DVD and I can't justify the price they quote me.

Then I woke up this morning and found this deal from GroopDealz for 500 photos scanned to DVD for $39!! From what I can tell, they send you the "kit" which includes the box and return postage label. You fill out the form, put in your photos, pay $14.95 for shipping and mail it to them.

This is just what I need! I did some research on this company since I've never heard of it and sending them my only copies of 500 photos is scary. They are based out of San Diego and have 5 out of 5 stars on 3 review sites I've looked at.
