SUCCESS!!!
After my last...um...miscalculation, ha ha I decided to try again with my "Bean Ball" project. I'm so happy I did, I ♥ them! All 5 balls took me an hour and a half total. Funny thing is after I finished them I put them next to the XL ones I did last time and I can't believe I spend so long making the large ones!
This time around I did:
- Black Beans,
- Small Red Beans,
- Pinto Beans,
- Pinto Beans spray painted with "Almond" color spray paint
- split peas.
Total Thrifty cost: $3.50 for the Styrofoam balls. I had the beans and gluesticks. I did buy a package of Split Peas, who actually eats them anyways?! ha ha they were $0.72 at Walmart.
This 3" size was much more doable then the other size I tried. I might actually make a few more!
I'm partying here:
Oh my gosh, this is a genius project! I have those styrofoam balls in my craft box, so I MUST try this very soon! Thank you for sharing! Yours look so great!
ReplyDeletePS - I am obsessed with Krylon's Almond spray paint.

They turned out great! I just read the last Bean Project post and laughed out loud as that is something that I have definitely done before! I hate measuring things :)
ReplyDeleteI read your last post too about these...hilarious! These bean balls are so nice - they look like something you'd see all packaged up in a store. :) I'm "pinning" it. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! These turned out nice. I don't know that I would have the patience to sit down and do them, but they sure look cool!
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty and I love how you arranged them:) I'm glad it worked out! I found you at Thrifty 101!

I love the decor balls and have been meaning to make some bean balls for quite a while now. I was thinking of spray painting them various colors to go with my interior-and to use for different holidays.
ReplyDeleteSo people eat split peas?? For what? ;) I love the bean-balls. Ha! That's a great name. The dark brown one is my fav, but I have a love for the pinto beans as well! Great job! And THANK YOU for linking up!
ReplyDeleteYour bean balls look fantastic, Michelle! I've been on the look out for sales on decorative balls... now I've been inspired to make my own! Thanks! (clicking over from Somewhat Simple)
ReplyDeleteThey are not as time consuming as they look. I just put a strip of glue on the ball and glued beans until there was no glue left. Then made another glue strip and more beans...:)
ReplyDeleteOh, also for those of you wondering, I did NOT have the patients to glue the split peas on in neat rows...those things are TINY!! I covered a 2" X 2" section and stamped it in a bowl of split peas. Then made another 2 X 2 section to it and stamped it and repeated until the whole ball was covered.
ReplyDeleteomg, this is so cool, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletebeans? too cool! i've seen these done with pushtaks! i would love it if you linked this up to my tip-toe thru tuesday party!
